lyrics

This is the story of three little frogs
sunning themselves on a log
at the edge of a swampy bog
on a hot summer's day.
They were named:
Freddy Frog, Fernando Frog, and Fiona Frog.
They were having lots of fun just hanging out,
eatin' lunch, and listening to their favorite music
(which is hip-hop, of course).
When all of a sudden,
Freddy Frog looked down at the water
and felt like doing something unexpected.
Can you guess what happened next?

Three green and speckled frogs,
sittin' on a speckled log,
eating the most delicious bugs...
"Yum, yum!"
One jumped into the pool
where it was nice and cool.
Now there's only two green speckled frogs
sittin' on that log.

Well, when Freddy Frog jumped into that water,
the other frogs were startled. They didn't know what to think!
So Fernando Frog called down to Freddy Frog and said,
"What in the world are you doin'?"
And Freddy looked back up at him and said,
"Well, what do you think I'm doin'?
I'm goin' swimmin', o' course!"
And Fernando said, "But Freddy!
The water looks so cold... and so deep...
and what if there's hungry, hungry hippos in the water?"
But Freddy just smiled and said, "No, no, no,
my fine fellow froggy friend! The water ain't too cold.
it's the perfect temperature for cooling off
on a hot summer's day like today.
And it's not too deep! Why, I can swim all the way down
to the bottom and pop right back up. We are frogs, after all.
We been swimmin' since we was pollywogs.
And this here bog is a State of Californy
environmentally protected nature preserve.
And there ain't no hippos in Californy.
Anyway, you should hop in, the water's toadly nice.
(Get it? Toadly nice? TOAD-ly?
Aw, c'mon, where's your sense o' humor?)"
Fernando thought about all of that and said,
"Well, that sounds pretty reasonable, I guess."
So he made a decision.
Can you guess what happened next?

Two green and speckled frogs,
sittin' on a speckled log,
eating the most delicious bugs...
"Yum, yum!"
One jumped into the pool
where it was nice and cool.
Now there's only one green speckled frog
sittin' on that log.

Well, that left Fiona Frog sittin' on that log
all by her lonesome. And she was worried about
jumping in the water, just like Fernando had been.
Freddy said to her, "Ain't you comin' in?
Don't you wanna play with us?
Or are you just a scared little tadpole?"
But Fiona said, "Hey! I'm not a tadpole!"
She was a smart little frog and knew better than
to do something she wasn't comfortable doing
just because her friends told her to.
So she took out her little froggy cell phone
(it was a brand new iFrog)
and she called her mother.
"Mama," she said, "may I go swimming in the bog,
where the water is not too cold,
and not too deep,
and not full of hungry, hungry hippos?"
And her mother said, "Yes, you may,
as long as you're back in time for dinner.
We're having hamburgers tonight,
with french flies and Cherry Croak."
"Thank you, Mama," said Fiona.
And now that she had permission
to go swimming with her friends,
can you guess what happened next?

One green and speckled frog,
sittin' on a speckled log,
eating the most delicious bugs...
"Yum, yum!"
She jumped into the pool
where it was nice and cool.
Now there are no more green speckled frogs
on that log.

Those green and speckled frogs,
sittin’ all alone in the bog where it’s cool...
They went a-swimmin’, laughin’ and a-grinnin’.
Now there are no more green speckled frogs
sittin’ on a log.
